Bologna and… Parmigiano Reggiano

The Western part of the Province of Bologna falls within the production area of Parmigiano-Reggiano.

An ancient processing technique, a skilled ageing and a suitable climate make this cheese unique in the world. If you want to visit a cheese factory and see how Parmigiano Reggiano is processed, it is necessary to leave early in the morning. The tour will be followed by a taste of differently aged cheese and a visit to the dairy store.
In the afternoon, we can choose between a sightseeing tour of Bologna’s old city centre or a visit to a winery located on the nearby hills where excellent DOC wines are produced: first of all the typical Pignoletto (obtained from the same-name white grapes), perfect as an aperitif, as well as superb reds made from Merlot, Cabernet, Barbera grapes.
